Symphonya Luxury Real Estate is pleased to offer for sale Palazzo Baldi, in the heart of Galatina's historic center. The 755-square-meter building is restored (although it still perfectly retains historical references) and has heating, air conditioning, plumbing/sanitary and electrical systems in excellent condition. The mansion, which was previously a private church but accessible to the public during services, was had restored by the namesake Conti Baldi, a noble Umbro-Tuscan banking family in the late 1500s that settled in the city of Salento to invest in the leather goods industry. The original idea on which the foundation was laid was that of an aristocratic dwelling designed for an aristocratic lifestyle. An enveloping beam of light from the skylight in the atrium stimulates entry to the three spacious and welcoming entrance halls located on the ground floor. All details and precious artifacts are preserved with obsessive care, among them stand out: arches, capitals, vaults in polychrome tufa mosaics and floors in white Trani stone. Completing the ground floor is the servants' quarters (now an office), the former stable for the horses' quadrille (now reception), a bar area for entertaining guests and toilets. On the second floor are No. 5 rooms with separate entrances and their private bathrooms. Each of the rooms is embellished differently from the others and all of them recall different historical eras and functions, starting from the Arabian room and moving on to the bishop's room actually used at the time by the prelate himself. From the lunarium one has the feeling of being completely immersed in the historical center of Galata finding the Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria on one side and that of the Chiesa Matrice of SS. Peter and Paul on the other; relevant therefore is the position of the palace that is halfway between the two main points of interest of the town. The complex hides numerous surprises including secret staircases, stratum well, votive temples, frescoed oratory, water cisterns, wooden furnishings, bells, retractable doors, overlooks. Subsequent to the Baldi family, the palace was inherited by Bishop Gabriele Adarso, and later by civic and religious figures, men of culture, artists, and diplomats from all over the world.
